As your current councilmember and past mayor, I represent the residents with the voice of reason, leadership, transparent governance and have established programs that ensure Villa Park continues to be a great place to live.  Villa Park has high property values per parcel, low crime, award-winning schools and a plethora of community participation.

Embracing residents’ concerns,  I seek to maintain a balance between conservatism and growth by researching the city’s history and needs to provide a fair and objective viewpoint. Rejecting homeowner association-type ordinances is essential to ensure that residents maintain the rights afforded them when they moved here.

My husband Fred and I have three teenagers attending VPHS. My involvement in the community is extensive. I serve as  chairperson, OUSD Measure S Citizens' Oversight Committee; president, National Charity League Orange/Villa Park; boardmember, Friends of VP Library and VP Women’s League, as well as a consistent volunteer for VPCSF and schools.

It is a privilege to serve the residents of Villa Park, and I respectfully request your vote on election day to continue that service.

When elected, I promised fiscal responsibility, crime reduction and protection of property values.  I have delivered.

I recruited residents to participate in improving our city. By establishing a committee of resident law enforcement professionals, our low crime rate has been reduced every year since 2015 – one of only two cities in Orange County that has done so. By establishing a committee of resident professional engineers, street, sewer and drainage facility maintenance costs have been reduced.

To protect property values, I changed zoning to stop a state mandate to provide high-density zoning in our residential zones; revised zoning to facilitate residential improvement projects; stopped a proposed project in Orange that would run 73,000 truckloads through our city; and ensured that modifications at VPHS do not impact residents and ensure children are safe.

I voted to maintain highly funded reserves and a Section 115 Trust to reduce pension liabilities. When a storm drain collapsed last winter, I applied my professional expertise to avert flooding, engaging county resources before the rains the following day.

Villa Park Council Candidates

My wife, Margaret, and I moved to Villa Park with our two children 10 years ago because we fell in love with the feel of the town. The spacing between homes, lack of street lights, and kindness of our neighbors are what makes Villa Park the Hidden Jewel. These characteristics should be upheld.
We became involved with the Women’s League Couples Gourmet, and our kids’ schools and sports. I was cubmaster for my son in Villa Park’s Cub Scout Pack 850 and Indian chief for my daughter’s Indian Princess tribe. I also volunteered in our community with the Villa Park Rotary, where I served as President.

I believe the job of the Villa Park City Council is to listen to the needs of the community and make decisions with Villa Park’s best interests in mind. My aim is to bring my leadership skills to the City Council, and I hope to get your vote.

Crystal Miles

As a 14-year resident of Villa Park involved with several organizations in our city, I have heard our residents voice their concerns on issues our city faces. Some of the concerns I have heard pertain to infrastructure, beautification, budget, traffic, low-income housing and safety. We have a unique situation being a small city. Our city can be likened to a small business tasked with hearing our residents’ concerns and issues, addressing those concerns and issues with logic, data and compromise.

I hold a BA in biology and a graduate degree in tumor immunology.  Currently, I work with my husband facilitating the growth of our business and raising our two boys. I sit on both the VP Community Services Foundation and the VP Little League Board.

I pride myself in my dedication, persistence, integrity and honesty towards the endeavors I undertake.

I just recently earned the endorsement from OC Firefighters IAFF Local 3631 and respectfully ask for your support too.  Want to find out more about me? crystalmilesvp@gmail.com   FB:Crystal Miles for Villa Park City Council
