To mitigate the loss of the historic school buildings on the Villa Park Elementary School campus, the Orange Unified School District has hired a consulting firm to conduct an oral history project and compile a memory book to commemorate the buildings.
The firm, GPA Consulting, is therefore looking for individuals with firsthand knowledge of the old school.
Did you attend, work in, or visit Villa Park Elementary (or the even older once named Mountain View School) while these historic buildings were still in use (pre-1970s), or do you know someone who would be willing to record their memories of the school?
Do you have memorabilia related to the school and/or historic buildings (photographs, newspaper clippings, poems, artwork, program brochures) that you would be willing to donate, lend, or submit to the project team for reproduction and inclusion in the memory book?
Please help commemorate these historic buildings. If you would like to participate in an in-person interview and/or contribute memorabilia for the Oral History & Memory Book Project for Villa Park Elementary School, please contact Architectural Historian Audrey von Ahrens at (310) 792-2690 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
GPA Consulting needs to hear from you by July 31. Interviews will be scheduled in August. Plans to collect actual memorabilia will be determined later, once the firm knows what is being offered, how much exists, and where it is.
