Janette Rose Robison Posey, 79, of Villa Park, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22. Her husband, Walter Daniel Posey, was at her bedside.
Janette was born on March 5, 1939, in Gentry, Missouri, a city her family helped found, to Daphne Elaine Ross Robison and John Otto Robison. While Janette was an infant, her grandparents, Ralph and Vera Hazel Ross, traveled the Oregon Trail, moving from Missouri to Oregon with their three daughters, Waunita, Bernetta and Janette’s mother Daphne, along with baby Janette and Waunita’s daughter Gloria, and friends John and Tom Huff and dog Mickey. On July 6, 1958, Janette was married to Walter Daniel Posey; they were married for 60 years.
Janette’s lifelong pursuit of knowledge awarded her a master’s degree in English from California State University, and a Juris Doctorate from Western State University. She practiced family and personal injury law.
Janette had a passion for travel and the arts; her favorite city was Vienna, and she was especially fond of the theater and classical music. She enjoyed boating and being out on the water with her husband. She pursued new experiences, and enrolled the entire family in ski lessons when her daughters were young, laying the foundation for many family skiing vacations. She also enjoyed reading, fine dining, wine collecting, oil painting, ballroom dancing, knitting and scrapbooking.
Janette is survived by her husband Walter; her daughter Sheree and husband Scott; daughter Jennifer and husband Steve; grandchildren Aaron, Stephanie and Stephen; cousins Gloria, Trudy, Gordon and Gary; her nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Jeannie.
